TORAFU ARCHITECTS was founded in 2004 by Koichi Suzuno and Shinya Kamuro. Both graduated from a ‘Department of Architecture’ and completed the “Master Course of Architecture’. The works from this duo include a wide range of products, from architecturally to interior design, designs for exhibition spaces, product design, spacial installations and film productions.
Some of their most important works are ‘TEMPLATE IN CLASKA’, ‘ NIKE1LOVE’, ‘HOUSE IN KOHOKU’, ‘Light Loom (Canon Milano Salone 2011) and the ‘AIR VASE’. They received many national and international prizes for their various projects.
For AIR VASE alone, they received various prizes, in 2011 the Design Plus Award, in 2012 the Red Dot Award for best product design and the Design for Asia Award Silver. In 2014 the Japanese Design Today 100 Award. In 2015 the AIR VASE was selected for the permanent collection of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. In 2017 they received the Top Awards Asia for the AIR VASE and in 2018 The Designers’ Saturday Grand Prix for a joint installation with Naomi Terada.
